The road rage incident in Lehi sends one man to the hospital and another to jail

LEHI, Utah One man is fighting for his life and another is in jail accused of aggravated assault after the two got involved in a road rage incident.

It happened Sunday afternoon near 1300 West and Main Street in Lehi. Police say one of the men cut the other off while the two were driving. It didn’t stop there, because breaks were also checked.

The worst part of the incident, however, is that the man, who is now in critical condition, was with his two young sons, who witnessed the whole thing.

Neighbor Jace was working on his bike when he heard screaming from his street.

“I immediately started running toward the main road,” Jace said. “I saw a man lying there with blood coming from his mouth, it looked like he was unconscious.”

“They exited their vehicles and after a brief altercation, fist bumps,” said Lt. Jeff Ray with the Lehi Police Department said this is a tragic case with two families now facing tragedies. The unidentified man was flown to hospital in critical condition.”

Jace said what was most disturbing was knowing the man’s sons had watched the entire ordeal.

“I think the moment I saw the kids’ faces, it was life-changing for me,” Jace said. “And put everything in a slightly different perspective.”

Jace had trouble sleeping after watching the scene.

“I think both men were wrong and guilty of what happened and they both had an argument, but it’s the children who witnessed that, and they see their father on the ground,” Jace said.

The man booked into the Utah County Jail has been identified as 43-year-old John Williams of Highland.
