This is when the release of Wheel of Time Season 3 is expected to take place

Fans are still scrambling over when to expect season 3 Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime Video, so here’s the expected release date.

The final episode of Season 2 premiered on October 6, 2023. The episode had fans coming to terms with some huge developments, including Rand officially taking the name Dragon Reborn and the deaths of six key characters.

When will season 3 of Wheel of Time be released?

On March 2, the official became X (formerly Twitter) account for Amazon Studios’ Wheel of Time posted a video of the cast celebrating the conclusion of season 3 filming.

While that time frame could easily mean the show will premiere by the end of the year, signs unfortunately point to a later debut.

Major media outlets such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have explicitly indicated in their coverage of the series that season 3 will premiere sometime in 2025.

However, fans probably shouldn’t be too surprised.

Season 2 of the show began production in July 2021 and concluded in May 2022, but did not debut until September 1, 2023.

For those keeping count, that’s a whopping 16 months between wrap and streaming debut.

If season 3 continues that pattern, a fall 2025 release wouldn’t be out of the question.

What should fans expect from Wheel of Time Season 3?

Since the Amazon Studios Wheel of Time series is an adaptation, fans already know what season 3 could look like.

It will be based on the fourth book of the original Wheel of Time series of novels, Shadow rises.

Now that Josha Stradowski’s Edge has just been named the Dragon Resurrected, it makes perfect sense to jump straight into Book 4, which follows the character at a similar point in his journey. While Rand has always been a central character in the show’s story, season 3 will likely delve deeper into the character than ever before.

A new location called the Aiel Waste will be the focus of the story, and new fantasy races will be encountered. Hopefully, fans will get their first look at the mythical sword called Callandor that the Dragon Resurrected will one day wield.

While I’m talking to Deadline, Wheel of Time Producer Rafe Jenkins teased the madness of season 3, specifically referencing “the first 15 minutes” containing “one of the most insane set pieces (he) has ever seen on television:”

“The first 15 minutes of Season 3 are one of the most insane set pieces I’ve ever seen on television… I was just watching it this week, and it’s absolutely bananas what our team pulled off… just a bunch of women in their 40s and 50s shredding each other, and it’s beautiful to watch.”

Needless to say, Fall 2025 is a huge wait, so hopefully Amazon Studios will pull out all the stops, and it will be more than worth it for fans.

Wheel of Time is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
