The children’s care home in Kilmarnock has been praised for its “great strengths” in services

A Kilmarnock care home for children and young people has been praised for the “great strengths” it has in its services.

Willow House, in Dundonald Place, was rated ‘very good’ on one quality indicator following an unannounced random check by the Care Inspectorate.

The announced inspection took place in April and the findings have now been made public. The Care Inspectorate said one of its key messages was that staff had built ‘strong caring relationships’ with the young people.

And young people were said to be “performing well” in relation to educational outcomes.

Another positive was that young people were “well involved in the community” and “positively involved” in the activities of their choice.

Young people’s individual interests and skills were also “fully promoted and supported”.

The care oversight body also noted that relationships of importance to the young people were “supported” to be maintained and facilitated, while the safety of young people was maintained within an “established environment”.
