ROCK HILL, SC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Rock Hill police say a woman has died after an argument between coworkers escalated Wednesday.

Police were called to Riverwalk Parkway near Celriver Road on June 19 just after 3 p.m. for reports of a shooting. They found a woman shot in the chest and arrested a man at the scene.

The woman was taken to Piedmont Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the woman and man were coworkers at a nearby store who got into an argument at work. The woman got into a car driven by an acquaintance, 32-year-old Brittney Reed of Lancaster. When the man got into his car and drove away, Reed blocked his car with hers.

The female coworker then walked up to the man’s window with a gun and he pulled out his own gun, shooting the female coworker, according to authorities. Reed punched the man in the face but left him alone after he yelled at her to get away. He waited for the police to arrive.

Police say the shooting was in self-defense and the man will not face charges. Reed was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

Two weapons were found at the crime scene. The investigation is still ongoing.
