Severe thunderstorms for all of Delaware, parts of Pa., NJ – NBC10 Philadelphia

According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of our region Thursday night until 9 p.m.

All of Delaware is threatened, as are parts of southern Pennsylvania, such as Chester County, and southern New Jersey, the agency says.

This is the same system that brought tornado warnings to our area Wednesday evening due to a stalled front that became stuck in our region.

High humidity and warmer temperatures cause these storms. Later tonight, a cold front is expected to push through and clear the atmosphere.

Isolated hail of up to a quarter in some areas is possible, with strong wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour.

Please note that significant lightning is expected from the storm system.

Crews from the National Weather Service plan to come to Delaware in the coming days to survey any damage from Wednesday’s storms.

This is a development story. Check back here throughout the evening for updates.
