Senior citizen scammed in home repair scam by Staunton woman

EDWARDSVILLE – A Staunton woman was charged Wednesday with fraud in repairs to her home and taking money from a senior citizen.

The 60-year-old suspect was charged June 5 with aggravated home repair fraud and theft of property over $5,000 by deception of an elderly person, both Class 2 felonies.

The case was presented by the Worden police.

According to court documents, the suspect committed a “series of acts” to defraud an elderly person in a driveway and patio replacement scheme between April 22, 2023 and August 23, 2023; and had received $8,500 in payments.

She was ordered released from custody.

This person has only been charged and remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Not all costs may be reported.
