Michael B. Jordan Gives Exciting I Am Legend 2 Update

Michael B. Jordan spoken only to People Magazine about working with Will Smith in the upcoming film I Am Legend 2.

It was announced that the sequel to Smith’s 2007 film would be in development and the two stars would be released in 2022. Jordan said the film is “something that is in the works.”

“We are still working on the script and getting it in order. There’s no release date or anything like that. I don’t know exactly where we will film it yet, but I am very excited to be in front of the camera with him. As someone I have looked up to for a long time, I am really looking forward to working with Will. I’m really excited,” he stated.

They’ll be legends… once the script is done

The original film was loosely based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name. The story followed scientist Robert Neville (Smith), as he tried to make his way through life as one of the last survivors of a world decimated by a disease who turned people into zombie-like creatures. The film was directed by Francis Lawrence.

Smith previously told Entertainment Tonight that he and Jordan were developing the sequel.

“I think it looks good. (We have some) really solid ideas… I think we’ll make it on screen together. That guy is the truth, so I would love to do that,” the actor said.

It IS a comeback

Smith is currently working on the fourth episode of Bad Boys, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which premieres June 7. Jordan was the final scene in his directorial debut in last year’s Creed III.

Smith is making a comeback after the 2022 Academy Award debacle that landed him in scorching hot water. Over the past two years, he has spent most of his time behind the screen as an executive producer for the Netflix miniseries African Queen: Njinga. In the Oscars incident that ended with his dismissal from the Academy and a 10-year ban from attending the events, he won Best Actor for his 2021 film King Richard. It was his first win and third nomination.

Jordan himself has been quite busy with his deal with Amazon MGM Studios. He will next be seen in an as-yet-untitled drama-fantasy-horror film that reunites him with Ryan Coogler who directed him in 2013’s Fruitvale Station, the first Creed film in 2015, as well as his iconic role as Killmonger in the Black Panther films.

In addition to I Am Legend 2, Jordan currently has three projects in pre-production. He will reprise his role as Adonis Creed in the upcoming fourth Creed film and as John Clark in the Chad Stahelski film Rainbow Six. He will also star in the remake/reboot/reimagining of the film The Thomas Crown Affair.

This will be the third version of the rich playboy thief. The first version was played by the legendary Steve McQueen in 1968 and the second by James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan in 1999.
